This heavy duty plain bearing was required to replace some existing bearings on a bridge, so had to be designed with critical dimensions as the original.
Two sizes were required, 4" and 5", They were designed with steel housings due to the high loading required.
The safe load rating on the 4" bearing was 35 Tons, and on the 5" 50 Tons.____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

A customer contacted us because he had some  housings and bearings that needed replacing. The units were working on a funicular railway which had to shut down due to not being able to get the obsolete units.

Criptic Arvis came to the rescue, producing cast iron housings and replacing the bearings. After assembly of the bearing, end covers incorporating seals were fitted.

If you have obsolete units, we can help.

A customer approached Criptic Arvis to see if we could help him to solve a problem. He had bearings running in chemicals interspersed with wood chips, and the bearings were only lasting about a week due to the ingress of foreign bodies. The units needed to replace the original blocks without needing to redesign other components.

The solution was  solved by designing a block with five seals so that chemicals and other materials could not penetrate to the bearing.

To get to the bearing, the contaminant would have to pass a Vee face seal, a felt seal. a filled grease cavity, a second Vee seal and then a lip seal.

The units have been running successfully since 2002.
