Bryan our sales director has visited DEVA Metal in Germany. The purpose of the visit to gain a greater knowledge and understanding of the processes involved in producing DEVA metal and other materials in order to relate better information to our customers. The visit proved to be very successful and we look forward to an improved working relationship with DEVA metal in the future!

Charity Bike Ride
On September 25th 2010 a team of 11 riders and a car support team left Criptic Arvis in Thurmaston, Leicester and battled the elements as they cycled their way to Hunstanton in Norfolk in aid of charity. Sponsorship money is still being collected but we think they have raised approx £2000 in total for the Leicester Hospitals Charity for the Oncology Department at Leicester Royal Infirmary.

Retirement Announcement
We announce the retirement of Mr Bernard R. Warren, Chairman and chief shareholder, after almost 28 years service. Bernard was a founder member of the company and we wish him a long and happy retirement. The company will continue to trade in the hands of the existing staff following an employee buyout of Bernard’s shares ensuring the continuation of the high standards expected by our clients.
Chairman's Report
The Chairman reported that the current turnover was showing a 35% increase over the same period last year which also showed a 30% increase on the previous year. This was mainly as a result of increased exports throughout the world.
These figures give us great optimism for the future and gave us the ability to continue invest in more state of the art technology. Order books are buoyant and the customer base is increasing daily. All staff should take great pride in the achievement

Apprentices

Fully Split Bearings
A company in Ontario were having problems with a long shaft that required support in the middle to stop it whipping. Because the shaft could not be removed they required a fully split self aligning bearing for a 1 1/2" shaft mounted in a 4 bolt flange split housing. Arvis sent a model and drawing of the FL4S-24E fully split bearing and housing. The unit was shipped out the next day by air freight.
Special Units
The New York Power Authority approached Arvis as they were having trouble with some SAF315 & SAF318 bearing housings breaking, Arvis suggested their FC heavy duty steel bearing housing range but with the same dimensions as the SAF housings and using the same seal configuration.. The company were interested but required evidence that the housings would be strong enough to take the loads.

Spherical Ball Unit
The picture shows a large spherical ball unit machined by Arvis on their CNC vertical lathe. The lathe has the capability to turn diameters up to 1.3 metres.
